Are you ready for a journey of personal discovery and cultural reclamation? Look no further than the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art’s current exhibition, Harmonia Rosales: Master Narrative

This exhibition features twenty incredible paintings by the Los Angeles-based artist, Harmonia Rosales, who seamlessly weaves together the tales and characters of the Afro-Cuban Lucumí religion, Greco-Roman mythology, and Christianity. Through her vibrant and visceral paintings, she challenges the concept of the master narrative and asks us to consider the universality of creation, tragedy, resilience, and transcendence through a Black diasporic lens.

Make sure to check the Museums calendar of ongoing exhibitions, including the upcoming Lush Beauty – A Tour of Harmonia Rosales: Master Narrative on May 13, 2023, where you can join Chasity Monroe, owner of Pink Noire Beauty Supply and Cosmetics, for a tour of the exhibition and learn more about the recurring theme of beauty in Rosales’ work.

This is an exhibition that bridges vast oceans and collapses the passing of millennia, so make sure to visit the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art from March 10 to June 25, 2023, and witness the incredible art of Harmonia Rosales for yourself.
