Though he grew up in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Vernon Adams considers himself a Memphis based visual artist. While he’s a talented sketch artist, his main love is for the brush and canvas. And it shows! His paintings are so breathtaking, you may catch yourself getting pulled in by their magnetism. The people in his work give you a sense of familiarity – speaking to you through the expressive colors.

His art has been displayed at St. Jude’s 1st Annual Juneteenth Celebration. As a way of giving back, Adams works as a community art teacher – growing and enriching the minds of kids by giving them an opportunity to explore their creativity.

Though a truly brilliant artist, he is still a hidden gem in the city and deserves widespread recognition. That’s why he’s BLAC’s Artist of the week.
